Cretan Village - Battlefield 1942/Forgotten Hope levelMy first completed map for the Battlefield 1942 modification Forgotten Hope. This is a fictional battle set on the island of Crete during the German airborne invasion in May 1941. The map was designed by myself and the landscape is based on the observations I made during my holidays to Crete. The basic landscaping was done in the Battlefield 1942's Battlecraft editor and the fine-tuning and all texturing and object placement were done using Editor 42. I downloaded background sounds from various websites offering free, royalty-free clips and mixed them using a shareware sound mixer to create the map's ambient sounds. All of the game content (static objects, vehicles, soldiers and weapons) were either made by DICE or members of the Forgotten Hope team. The map includes an additional weapon - the German M39 "Eihandgranate" (literally "egg hand grenade") - which was made by Norwegian Forgotten Hope developer "Arisaka" and textured by myself using Paintshop Pro 7. When it was finished, the map was entered to compete for a place in the official Forgotten Hope Fan Mappack 6 and was picked out of many entries to have a place in the final 16 maps which were then released to the public.
